Early life
Noah Lyles was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 18, 1997. Michael and Kimberly Lyles were both athletes; his father ran track while his mother was a sprinter. From a young age, Noah showed interest and aptitude in track and field. He began running competitively at age 10; by age 15, he had already broken several national records. In 2013, he won gold at the World Youth Championships in the 200-meter dash. However, it wasn’t until 2016 that Lyles emerged as one of the top American runners. That year, he won silver medals in the 200 meters and 400 meters races at Rio Olympics.
Since then, he has broken three world junior records: 400m (44.26), 600m (1:21.06), and 800m (1:45.10). As an athlete who will be 20 years old when 2020,, Olympics roll around, expect to see him challenging for gold!

He became part of Team USA at only 16 years old during Olympic Trials that same year. The IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) ranked him 3rd on their Rising Stars list. He became one of only two people under 19 ever to break 44 seconds for 400 meters sprints when he ran 43.96 seconds on June 11, 2017, during the USATF High-Performance Championships in Sacramento.
Middle school years
Noah Lyles was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 18, 1997. He attended T.C. Williams High School, where he ran track and played football. As a freshman, he was named the Gatorade Virginia Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. As a sophomore and junior, he went on to win state championships in the 100m and 200m. As a senior, he set the national high school record in the 200m with 20.09 seconds. In 2015, he committed to run for the University of Arkansas under coach Lance Harter. That same year, at age 17, he won his first international medal at the Pan American Junior Championships. In 2016, Lyles made his Olympic debut as a member of Team USA’s 4x100m relay team in Rio de Janeiro. He currently holds three U.S records:

College years

In 2015, he won the USA Junior Championships in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.26 seconds. He then went on to compete at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, where he reached the semifinals of the 200-meter dash. However, he failed to make it past the first round of the 400-meter dash. His best finish came in the 4×400 relay race with Team USA, in which he helped win gold after running alongside fellow athletes Deon Lendore, Charles Jock, and Charles Silmon. During his time at Texas A&M University, he continued to be a successful runner and set an NCAA outdoor record for the 400-meter dash (44.57) as well as an NCAA indoor record for the 200-meter dash (20.11). In addition, he qualified for the 2016 Olympics by winning bronze in the men’s 200-meter dash at the 2016 United States Olympic Trials. The excitement about the upcoming Olympics, combined with his previous success, led him to sign a sponsorship deal with Nike in December of 2016. The following year, Lyles made history by becoming the youngest man ever to run the 100-meter dash in under 10 seconds when he ran 9.98 at the 2017 Drake Relays meet. He also won gold medals at both of that year’s U.S. national championships: as part of Team USA at Worlds and as part of Nike’s Oregon Project team domestically during U.S National Championships at Hayward Field.
